Tournament Referees

 

PCYS hosts WYSA-sanctioned tournaments in the spring and fall. USSF-certified referees are required. To be included in the pool of referees, please contact steve.burkart@pcys.net, Referee Assignor.

 


Competitive/Classic/Select League Referees

 

PCYS offers a variety of soccer games, including competitive, classic, and select matches, that require referees throughout the year. To be eligible for these officiating opportunities, you need to be a certified USSF Soccer Referee.

Rec League Referees

 

To referee Recreational League games, you must be at least 14 years old and attend the PCYS Referee Organizational Meeting. No USSF certification is needed.


Simply download and complete the PCYS Recreational League Referee Information Sheet, and bring it with you to the meeting. If you have any questions, reach out to erica.weisgram@pcys.net, the Recreational League Coordinator.

 

Steps to Becoming a USSF Soccer Referee

Looking to earn extra money and stay close to the soccer action? Becoming a soccer referee is a great opportunity.

  • Age Requirement: You must be 13 or older to take the entry-level course.
  • Training Course: The course is 16 hours long, split between online and in-person sessions. The online portion must be completed first, followed by a one-day classroom session that includes field training and the USSF written test.
  • Age Limits for Officiating: Referees under 14 can officiate U10 and younger games, while those 14 and older can referee all ages.

US Soccer Learning Center and click "Sign Up" to start your journey. Once registered, browse available courses under "Grassroots - First Time Referees."
